The World Cup may have ended in disappointment for England, but football fans can console themselves with the fact that the domestic football season is now upon us. The 2010/2011 Premier League is set to be one of the biggest yet, and fans will be able to see all the action in 3D as Sky Sports officially launches its brand new 3D channel this summer.

The first Premiership football match to be shown in 3D was Arsenal’s clash with Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium back in January. This “test” screening proved to be a massive success, and as a result Sky Sports began a roll-out of the 3D TV service in tens of thousands of pubs, restaurants and hotels across Britain back in April.

Sky will continue their 3D revolution this summer by launching the Sky Sports 3D channel, which will not only broadcast Premier League football matches, but also a number of other sports covered by the company, including rugby and cricket.

3D football is set to take Britain by storm in the next twelve months, so it’s best to have your 3D facilities installed in good time before the start of the new football season to fully take advantage of its benefits. Satellite communications company SCC International can install the 3D TV service in your public establishment with the greatest of ease.

As well as the introduction of 3D TV, SCC International are also involved in a number of high-profile TV and satellite projects, including the continuing Digital Switchover in Britain. The company also provide installations of integrated reception systems and IPTV. For more information about SCC International and the services they provide, including 3D television installation, visit the SCCI website at http://www.scci.co.uk/.

Why FIFA should revisit the question of whether technology should be used or not during the course of a football match to assist the referee in making decisions.

There is no question that FIFA have got to review their stance on goal line technology after the latest World Cup match between Germany and England. There is little recourse but to revisit this much debated issue yet again after the clear goal that England’s Frank Lampard scored against Germany that would have brought the sides level at half time!

Why a football match of this magnitude has to have it’s final result shrouded in controversy, when there is absolutely no need for it to be so, is beyond the concept of most of the world’s football watching public. Why is it that one man, Sepp Blatter, can control the result of football matches when the whole world can see, thanks to television replays, if a goal is a goal or not?

Irrespective of any result in any football match, most football fans and experts will concur that a goal can, and often does, change a game, and the fact that in this particular case it would have brought the two teams level, with England in the ascendency, an alternative outcome was a distinct possibly.

That being said, England were, over the 90 minutes, by far outclassed by a young German side that operated a successful counter-attacking system, that inflicted England’s worst ever world cup result, but was it not for the poor decision of not awarding England’s equalizer would this have been the result?

Football is not the same game it was twenty years ago, it is much faster, players are much fitter and the skill levels are much higher, the margins for error are finer than ever before and unfortunately, this means that the pressure placed upon referees and their assistants to make correct decisions is far greater than ever before.

The game of football has evolved much faster than the game’s governing bodies who, to many, seem to be encapsulated in the past. Sepp Blatter, and his other sidekicks within FIFA’s governing body, are unwilling to move forward at the same pace as the game, as doing so would obviously require a reversal on any stance against technological assistance for referees, this type of stubbornness can only be detrimental to the game. The reluctance to embrace technology is hindering the game and the sooner FIFA realize this the better.

France, who capitulated at this year’s tournament were only there because of FIFA’s reluctance to use technology, use of which would have shown a double handball by Thierre Henry in the build up to their goal against the Republic of Ireland in a play off match that effectively qualified them for the world cup finals. There was so much public condemnation about the manner of their qualification, even from the French public, that it must have played heavily upon the player’s psyche leading into the tournament and is probably responsible in part for the team’s performances.

Football is a game where the dividing line between winning and losing is getting finer and finer, there are no ‘whipping boys’ left in world football which means that correct decision making is becoming much more important and this is why technology must be used whether the dinosaurs running FIFA agree or not!

Football fans are in for a treat when they head to Liverpool for a weekend or short break. Whatever you’re visiting this enigmatic city for – be it business or pleasure – if you love football you should visit one of Liverpool’s most exciting attractions – Anfield stadium.

Anfield stadium has been the home of Liverpool FC since the club first began. Built in 1884, the stadium first housed Everton FC until a dispute drove the club away. Then, in 1892, Liverpool was born and snapped up the stadium as its new training ground.

Visiting Anfield is something every Liverpool fan ought to do at least once, and if you’re going to be in town on business or a holiday, it’s a great excuse to make the pilgrimage during your stay. With over a century of Liverpool’s victories and defeats taking place within its grounds, Anfield is the true Liverpool fan’s holy ground.

What’s more, with plans for a new, higher-capacity stadium to be built nearby that will replace Anfield, there’s only so much time fans have to visit it before Liverpool moves on. Thankfully, the club is set to remain at Anfield for at least a few more years, so don’t panic too much if you’re not visiting the city yet!

Anfield is comprised of four stands which give the stadium a capacity of 45,276, although the highest ever recorded attendance at the stadium is 61,905 – a significant amount higher than the stadium’s current capacity. This record high took place in 1952 during a match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers, though the reason so many people attended is because the stadium used to include standing space as well as seating, and the change to all-seater space meant there was less room to squeeze extra football fans in.

Even if you’re not a Liverpool fan, it isn’t hard to see the significance of Anfield in the world of football. Over the years, Anfield has played home to many international matches, and has also hosted the England team during their games against other countries, an honour that not all football stadiums can claim.

Anfield stadium is a great location to visit, especially when there’s a game on. Whether you’re visiting Anfield because of Liverpool or England – or for the visiting team, if you’re heading to a match – you can be sure you’ll return to your hotels in Liverpool feeling satisfied of a great day out.

BEST OF the best goalkeepers will find it difficult to handle the new ball designed for FIFA World Cup 2010. The new Adidas ball has been named Jabulani (meaning ‘to celebrate’ in Zulu). The new ball designed by British University team stressed its merits but Australian scientist think the new ball will be nightmare for the goalkeepers, as it will be faster and more erratic.

The Loughborough University scientists involved in the design of the ball say they have developed a ball featuring “a completely new, ground breaking technology, which has perfect roundness.”

Well this groundbreaking technology will break how many heart, time will tell. But years of preparation of goalkeeprs will go in vain if they find it really difficult to guess the movement of the ball.

The Jabulani will allow goal keepers to really celebrate with this new ball or not, but players are lining up to complain it behaves erratically and they are having difficulty judging its trajectory, especially at relatively high altitude.

David James, England goalkeeper, described new Adidas ball as “horrible”, Spanish keeper says it is “rotten” and Italian keeper Giasnluigi Buffon fears its unpredictability can ruin the world cup.

Derek Leinweber, Adelaide University researcher, supports the goalkeeper point of view, and proves it through computer simulation that the new ball is faster than the previous balls, and the rough surface made it more erratic.

Leinweber says, “And, the ball bends better. It means that the goalkeeper’s institution is just a little bit off.”

Goalkeeper’s practice and his reflexes will be tested more than ever before. His anticipation and reactive move may go wrong as the ball is faster and takes different angle.

Best of luck to the goal keepers as this time the English Players known for their ‘Bend it like Beckham’ kicks can do miracles in South Africa.

OPENING DAY musical concert of World Cup 2010 is going to be the most watched concert of the world, and the person who is going to do song samba is Shakira. The FIFA World Cup opening ceremony is going to be musical double feature this week.

Top stars including Shakira will perform on Thursday and a secret performance just ahead of match on Friday. The concert will be broadcast live from the heart of the Johannesburg Soweto Township’s 40,000 capacity Orlando Stadium at 1800 GMT.

Soccers fans from across the world have already booked their tickets to watch Shakira in opening concert of FIFA World Cup 2010 singing official song “Waka Waka” with South African pop group Freshlyground.

Among others who are going to rock Johannesburg are Black Eyed Peas, Alicia Keys and John Legend. Top African musicians including Angelique Kdjo from Benin, The Parlotones from South Africa and Amadou and Mariam, the blind musical duo from Mali.

But there is a surprise element from FIFA for the world just before the opening match between host South Africa and Mexico.

Lebo M, the Soweo-born musician behind Broadway’s “The Lion King,” is the producer of 25-minute performance at Soccer City Stadium. Nelsen Mandela has picked a song “Hope” to play at opening by rocker Russ Ballard and Chris Winter.

But Mandela’s pick South African opera tenor 34-year-old Siphiwo Ntshebe, die dsuddenly last month of meningitis. Lebo M is not yet clarified who will replace Siphiwo, in the singing event on Friday before 95,000 spectators.

As this kind of Global event brings huge publicity, several small musical groups raised voice regarding the non representation of Local artists in the opening event. They called for boycott of the event from the people, and people’s response to their boycott call is not gaining momentum.

Stampede during the warm up match raises serious doubts regarding the preparedness, crowd management and security. If any thing of this kind happens during the main event, this will be shameful for Africa and football community at large. Hope the South African government will fully utlize this global oppurtunity to boost its image and avoid this kid of minor mistakes.

As a Host, Ida brings a “Fresh Spin on Issues Facing Athletes and Entertainers, and she inspires integrity and fairness in the process,” says Nick Starks, President & CEO of Revolution XT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Golden Key Associates) June 4, 2010: Orlando, Fl

Six years after Ida Muorie started the first sports show on Voice America Internet Radio Network, Ida auditions for Oprah’s OWN TV. In 2004, Ida started the first sports talk show on Voice America in a landscape that was dominated by men. According to Campbell Soup Team Mom (mother of Max Starks of Pittsburgh Steelers), Eleanor Starks, “Ida brought a Fresh Spin on Issues Facing Athletes and their Families on the Sportsmavericks Show. The information that Ida’s guest shared was not available to parents on the radio, television or in printed material. Ida helped many parents to bridged the generation gap between their student athelete, while balancing the pursuit of academic excellence and sports participation. The show entertained, educated and motivated parents to participate fully in the academic and athletic life of their student athlete. The show really created a resource on-line for parents and athletes world-wide, and it continues to educated sports professionals and fans about the real lives of our children.”

Pioneering the popularity of Sportsmavericks weekly on the internet, through her upfront style and “ten key principles of courage, determination, teamwork, ambition, persistence, integrity, discipline, community, academic excellence and fairness,” Ida was able to create an audience participation of 100,000 weekly that eventually grew to 500,000 weekly for the network. Among her accomplishments with the Network, Ida became a catalyst to create a new Sports Channel on Voice America talk radio network in 2007. After 2007, Ida expanded her coverage to handle issues of athletes and entertainers, and Ida key focus was to break down the stereotypes. The show launched a global awareness campaign to make the distinction between the issues that elite athletes and professional entertainers share, and to expose those challenges that each share alone in their career pursuits.

To help her global audience better understand the real distinction, Ida sought a diverse group of expert guests, who could share real experiences, and offer workable solutions for parents. To her credit, Ida created a niche market of parents of 16-32 years old athletes and entertainers, that coveted the brand clothing, electronics, automotive, music, jewelry, books, DVD, Ipods and movie markets. For the OWN network, this should lead to many licensing brand opportunities, as Ida brings the only original TV content that targets parents of athletes and entertainers.

The material is positive, stimulating and unscripted. Ida provides cutting edge subject matters that challenge parents to get involoved fully in their child’s academic and celebrity lifestyles. Ida carefully introduces integrity and fairness into the process, when she challenges parents, coaches, academic advisors, agents and talent professionals to worked together to mold a role model. None of the guests answers are trivalized, nor demeaned. Each guest was chosen by Ida personally for their unique expertise, and their ability to recommend realistic solutions to her audience.

Today, the Voice America Sports Channel has grown to over 500,000 weekly guest, and 30 new talk show host from the Who’s Who of Sports and Entertainment. Ida continues to be the featured Host, as she has created over 150 hours of Content. Ida’s shows is featured every Tuesday, Saturday and Monday at 5pm Pacific. Sportsmavericks is broadcast on a 24/7 rotation basis for timezones like Asia, Europe and Russia. Ida’s popularity has expanded to 80 countries.

“On June 26, 2010, Ida’s role model Oprah, will get a chance to critique a ‘Pro’ that brings the real deal to Oprah’s OWN TV network, says Bianca Strauss, a long term Oprah follower, stylist and former model.” ” Ida is a writer, producer, terrific host, that is a triple threat for any nework,” says Sandra Milliner, Actress, Director and member of the Director’s Guild in Hollywood. “It has been Ida’s dream since 2004, to simultaneously broadcast her talk show on television, internet radio and traditional radio, this is very strategic marketing, and an idea whose time has come. Ida feels that the issues facing athletes and entertainers desperately need a bigger stage,” concludes Sandra.

WHAT IDA MUORIE SAYS ABOUT HER NEW SHOW ON OWN NETWORK – Ida Talks

“”We will provide a fresh spin to sports and entertainment, when we take the personal issues that athletes and entertainers face into America’s living rooms for a real dialogue by experts. We will redefine the images of elite athlete and entertainers, and bridge the gap between parents, athletes, entertainers and their lifestyles.

BAD START for England team just before the beginning the World Cup. England World Cup team captain Rio Ferdinand, 31, was ruled out of the FIFA World Cup 2010, due to injury in his left knee. He injured his knee in team’s first full training session in South Africa.

The central defender suffered a ligament injury in the final minutes of the training after he fell badly.
Ivory Coast star and captain Didier Drogba also broke his right arm in a 2-0 warmup victory over Japan

The FA said in a statement, “Further to a scan arranged by the England medical staff immediately, after training in Friday afternoon, Rio has been ruled out for four to six weeks and will therefore unfortunately miss the world cup.”

Now Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will captain the team. Michael Dawson of Tottenham Hotspur will replace Ferdinand in 23 man squad. The team manager Fabio Capello said, “It is obviously a bad news and everyone with the squad is very disappointed and sorry for Rio. It was an accident injury in training but had nothing to do with the pitch.”

It is not just captain Rio but goal keeper David James, who also complained about the knee injury and did not, participate in training on Friday.

England team is going to face U.S on June 12 opening match. Rio took over as captain after Chelsea’s John Terry was stripped of the job in February because of an off-pitch scandal involving his private life.It was Rio’s third World Cup, but unfortunately got disrupted before the start.
