La diagnosi di Ca3 può invece essere fatta quando nel preparato in vivo, sia pure in modo anche isolato, compaiono sia la decomposizione vescicolare che le nuove forme a fuso.
Va sottolineato che i bacilli T sono responsabili unicamente dell’innesco dello stadio canceroso.
Le cellule cancerose, una volta scaturite, si sviluppano ed evolvono in modo completamente autonomo cioè indipendente dai fattori che le hanno generate.
La “penetrazione distruttiva” delle cellule cancerose va in gran parte attribuita non alla cellula cancerosa in se stessa ma piuttosto alla medesima reazione vescicolare che si attua anche nelle cellule adiacenti.

In altri casi le cellule che hanno assunto una forma rotonda si allungano e diventano mobili attraverso la formazione di estesi e chiari pseudopodi.

Ashton, Leigh and Wigan NHS used a cancer awareness roadshow exhibitions campaign to target a borough where around 50 people a year die from cancer because they present symptoms too late. PCT health professionals carried out an average of 25 consultations a day in a specialist mobile medical trailer, providing information about lung, breast and bowel cancer to hard-to-reach groups, particularly men, who would not normally visit their GP.

Mobile healthcare initiatives are helping to improve the treatment experience for patients too. The Welsh cancer charity Tenovus is easing the practical and emotional strain of chemotherapy by visiting rural communities with a mobile medical unit at five sites, 52 weeks a year. It has helped reduce patient travelling time by over 50%.

Wu said, “The system is portable and as soon as you lie down you can get a scan – it’s real-time. The real-time imaging minimises the chance of missing a breast tumour during scanning. Other systems also need to use a gel, such as in an ultrasound, to work but with our system you don’t need that – it can be done simply in oil, milk, water.”

A university spokesman said, “Not only is this a quicker and less intrusive means of testing, it means women can be tested at GP surgeries, which could reduce waiting times and in some cases avoid unnecessary X-ray mammography.” Wu added, “This will benefit millions of women in developed and developing countries bearing in mind one in nine may develop breast cancer.”

“Although there is still research to be done, the system has great potential to bring a new way for breast cancer diagnosis.” Some 45,000 UK women are diagnosed with the disease each year. It claims around 12,000 lives a year.
